Getting Ready For Spring

It was kind of nice out today so DH decided to clean out all the birdhouses around the yard. This is no small task (there are 5 of them.)
I took photos of each different nest to use in a garden journal I'm putting together.
I didn't notice 'the nose' until I had the shots on the computer screen.

This all came from inside the English Sparrow's house. They love to collect chicken feathers from a neighbor's yard to line their nest. They stay in the yard and use their house all year round.

The New Heater

Here's a shot of out new gas wood stove in action. It is the Champlain model.
And it is "Lucy approved."

Ah, Winter...

We had temperatures below zero this weekend- if only some snow had come our way as well!!
But it has been a great weekend to snuggle on the sofa with your BFF.

SPCA Alumni Parade

Once again, Lucy walked proudly in the SPCA Parade of shelter alumni- dogs that have been adopted from the shelter. But she was not the oldest dog in the parade. The Pastor who gave the Pet Blessing walked in front of Ray and Lucy and his dog (age 16) held that honor.

After A Hard Day's Work In The Garden

Here's Lucy resting in the front yard after so graciously digging a nice big hole we transplanted this blue Butterly Bush into.

She's a hard worker in the garden. Every rose I have has been planted in a hole dug by these paws.

Catching Up

Has it really been 5 weeks since my last post?! So much has happened since then...
2007 ended with a bang and a crash- a computer crash. I've been pretty diligent about backing up photos since I began using Photoshop Elements. But I lost some recent photos and digital projects. The most time consuming thing has been gathering discs and trying to re-load the essentials back into the computer.
Here's a photo of Lucy enjoying her Christmas gift. I noticed this wonderful orange velvet "Princess Chair" while shopping with Suzette & Jenna at Skyline Antiques on Third Friday in December. I was distracted then by finding the perfect gift for Ray (which I will post later.) I think I remember having a little velvet dollhouse chair just like this when I was a little girl.
When Ray and I went back to Skyline later it was still there and he agreed it seemed the perfect fit for her.
Lucy seems to think so, too.

Stop Puppy Mills

The American Humane Society has an on line petition to sign to STOP PUPPY MILLS. Click on the link or click on the MUTTS website in my links list (YESH!)

Okay, you have to give your e-mail when you sign. Okay, you'll get some e-mails from the Humane Society. Okay.

I just want to remind everyone they are among the folks who went to New Orleans to rescue pets after Katrina. Now you can take your pets with you when you have to evacuate to a shelter in an emergency, thanks to new legislation.

Do you know where your pet's vaccination records are? Can you grab them on the way out the door in an emergency? What else do you need to bring to get into an emergency evacuation shelter with your pet??

If you can't answer these questions... well, maybe you could use a few e-mails from the American Humane Society. That's all I'm sayin' ....
